Philippe Marcus – FRANCEKARPATTIA

Philippe Marcus proposed a moment to share his research and experience of his stay at the SNRA residency in the region of Trancarpatia, Ukraine. Since his arrival, the Double room studio has been a place dedicated to work, and he was presented the wall paintings he realized specially for this space, and the ink drawing serie that he started here. The presentation was also featured a time, in visio, with the Ukrainian artist Misha Zavalnyi, now living in France with which he’s actually working on a book composed of texts and pictures to share their opposite but complementary experience of this particular august month 2025.

The SNRA residence draws attention to the role of culture and art during the russian-Ukrainian war, aims to implement institutionally critical projects related to cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), development of artistic-cultural institutions. The SNRA residency program, the Philippe Marcus’s participation and his project were implemented thanks to the grant support from The Académie des beaux-arts in Paris (French Academy of Fine Arts)
