The Sorry No Rooms Available residence is pleased to present a personal project and exhibition of Pavlo Kovacs (jr) “HOC EST CORPUS MEUM”, which means “this is my body”. Pavlo’s artistic project “HOC EST CORPUS MEUM” reflects on his experience of serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which he joined in July 2023.

Pavlo Kovach, born in 1987, works in Lviv, studied at the Uzhhorod Art School named after A. Erdeli and the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Co-founder of the art spaces Detenpyla gallery and Efremova26 gallery, and a co-founder and member of the Open Group art collective. In his artistic practice, Pavlo creates heteronyms based on real and fictional life stories, fills the life of a fictional character with stories, artifacts, and works of art created or possibly created by this character.

The SNRA residence draws attention to the role of culture and art during the russian-Ukrainian war, aims to implement institutionally critical projects related to cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), development of artistic-cultural institutions.

The SNRA residency program, the participation and exhibition of Pavlo Kovach were implemented thanks to the grant support from The Académie des beaux-arts in Paris (French Academy of Fine Arts)
