Andrea Kalinová studied at the Department of Photography and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. She finished her doctoral studies at the Department of Intermedia and Multimedia of the Academy of Fine Arts with her dissertation work Artistic Strategies as Methods for Support and Protection of Endangered Architecture. She is a member of the artist group Abandoned (re)creation and the non-profit organization Jaromír Krejcar Society, which aim at the retrieval of the Machnáč Sanatorium in Trenčianske Teplice about which she completed the documentary film Off Season in 2018. Her first feature film The Last Inhabitants of Friendship Sanatorium is currently in post-production, which talks about the survivors of the Abkhaz-Georgian war that lived in the previous sanatorium in the spa town of Tskaltubo, Georgia.
Andrea Kalinová’s residency and project are individually supported by the state funds of the Slovak Republic provided by the Slovak Arts Council
