Polina Shcherbyna – Artist talk
Residence Sorry No Rooms Available,
October 21, Double room, hotel Intourist-Zakarpattia
Polina Shcherbyna is an female artist, lives and works in Kyiv and Lviv. In her practice, Polina works on expanding the concept and perception of painting, which she positions as an object. Her two-sided paintings grow in installations that include video and audio as an additional element of the spatial-audio perception of the work.
Inherent in the technical side of Polina’s works is the use of unprimed linen canvas, as well as ritual-like experiments with carving and burning on wooden boards, balancing on the border of drawing and relief.
Polina works with the question of body awareness through anti-anatomy. At the same time, in her works she reflects on the concepts of expectation, fear and illusion and how they manifest in human behavior.
Polina Shcherbina graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (monumental painting and temple culture workshop).
